The Ninth District Dental Society was formed in 1909 and renamed to the Ninth District Dental Association in 2002. We have a membership of over 1500 dentists in 5 counties: Westchester, Rockland, Dutchess, Orange and Putnam.

In its quest to serve both the public and the profession, the Ninth District embodies the highest ideals.

The mission of the 9^th District Dental Association is to serve and support its members and the public by improving the oral health of our community through Advocacy, Continuing Education and Camaraderie.

"Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office"

Instructor: Edward Miller, D.M.D.
Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, active Attending in the Mt. Sinai Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program and at the N.Y. Harbor VA Medical Center

Synopsis: This presentation will review how to be prepared for the more common medical emergencies encountered in the dental office. We will review medical history highlights and red flags, the equipment needed to be prepared to treat these medical emergencies and then specific medical emergencies. The medical emergencies covered will include syncope, diabetic emergencies, emergencies with pregnant patients, asthma-related emergencies, toxic overdose emergencies, seizures, allergic reactions, anaphylaxis, chest pain, airway obstruction. cardiac arrest and others, as time allows.
