Webinar: "Is There Still a Role for Opioids in Dental Practice?"

Stuart Lieblich, D.M.D.
Clinical Professor, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, University of Connecticut; Adjunct Clinical Professor, Weill Cornell Medical Center; Medical Director, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/Pediatric Dentistry, Connecticut Children's Medical Center; Avon Oral, Facial and Dental Implant Surgery

The use of opioids to manage dental pain has been questioned due to multiple issues. Historically, dentists have been one of the larger prescribers of opioids and over half of a young adult’s first opioid prescription is written by a dental provider. This program will review the multi-modal management of dental pain to eliminate the need for opioid use in our practices. We’ll review pain management strategies, from choosing appropriate local anesthetics, to non-opioid methods of alleviating pain.
