Cesar R. Sabates, D.D.S., took office as ADA president, along with new and returning Association officers, on Saturday before proceedings of the ADA House of Delegates at SmileCon, ADA News reported. Dr. Sabates, the ADA's 158th president and first Cuban-American president, told delegates he would do his best to support the Association and the dental profession. "I want to unite the ADA in protecting dentistry from excessive regulations and other outside influences that threaten the very principles of our work," he said. George R. Shepley, D.D.S., is the ADA's new president-elect, and the four new trustees taking office were James M. Boyle III, D.D.S., 3rd District; Frank J. Graham, D.M.D., 4th District; Marshall H. Mann, D.D.S., 5th District; and Michele M. Tulak-Gorecki, D.D.S., 9th District.

The ADA House of Delegates on Saturday voted George R. Shepley, D.D.S., the Association's president-elect and Mark Bronson, D.D.S., the second vice president, according to ADA News. "I want us all to move us forward for a new day in dentistry, a new day for the ADA and all dentists," said Dr. Shepley, who most recently served as trustee of the ADA's 4th District and was chair of the ADA Budget and Finance Committee, Standing Committee on International Accreditation and the ADA Council on Communications. Dr. Bronson has served as president of the Ohio Dental Association and chair of the ADA Council on Government Affairs and ADA State Public Affairs Committee.
