Survey: Health centers lose workers, including dental staff, during pandemic
70% of 263 federally qualified health centers surveyed lost between 5% and 25% of their staff over the past six months
A report from the National Association of Community Health Centers showed almost 70% of 263 federally qualified health centers surveyed lost between 5% and 25% of their staff over the past six months. Greatest losses were seen among nurses, followed by administrative staff; behavioral health staff; and dental staff, including dentists, dental assistants and hygienists, according to RevCycle Intelligence. The most common reason for leaving was better financial opportunities at larger health care organizations, but COVID-19 pandemic-related stress also was a factor.
