Dental Assistant - Full Time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour (depends on experience)
Location: Mt. Kisco, NY
Job description: Pediatric Dental Assistant needed for our new dental office on Monday through Friday! We are a new dental office offering pediatric dentistry and orthodontics to the Mt. Kisco and surrounding communities. We are looking for an energetic dental assistant that can grow with the practice.
Dental Assistants are responsible for providing chair-side support to Dentists and completing prep work so they can more efficiently care for patients. Duties include assisting during dental procedures, taking dental radiographs and digital scans, sterilizing and organizing dental instruments, completing intake paperwork and updating patient records. Experience a plus, but willing to train the right candidate.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assisting the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures
- Taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays)
- Taking digital scans/digital impressions
- Asking about the patient's medical history and taking vital signs
- Serving as an infection control officer, following infection control protocol, and preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment
- Helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment
- Providing patients with oral care instructions following surgery and other procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling)
- Teaching patients' appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health, including tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling
- Taking impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth)
- Completing lab work under the direction of the Dentist
- Performing clerical office tasks under the direction of the Practice Administrator
- Communicating with patients and suppliers, which may involve scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing and ordering supplies
Required Skills/Abilities: - Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Customer service skills to ensure patients feel comfortable during their appointment as well as well-informed about treatment and dental wellness
- Technical and troubleshooting skills to work with a variety of dental, medical, scheduling and other organization software in the office
- Organization skills enable these professionals to keep their workspace clean to ensure patients, dentists and other assistants are safe and healthy while working
- Knowledge of dental instruments
- Prior experience administering dental X-rays
- Prior knowledge of Dentrix Ascend software a plus
Education and Experience: - NYS Registered Dental Assistant
- Dental Assistant Certificate earned through DANB or certified dental assisting program or trade school
- CPR or BLS Certification
