EHC Issues Report on Preventing HAIs

Feb 24, 2025

Per the notice below, the Effective Health Care (EHC) Program has issued a report on preventing hospital-acquired infections (HAIs).

Opportunity to Comment on Draft Report

We encourage the public to participate in the development of our research projects.  Comments can be submitted for:

Environmental, Clinical and Economic Outcomes of Hospital Resources to Prevent Hospital-Acquired Infections

(Available for comment until March 19, 2025)

This review assesses the evidence comparing reusable and single-use reprocessed medical devices with single-use disposable devices.  The primary focus will be on: 1) devices whose inherent purpose is HAI prevention; and 2) devices commonly used in bedside care.  A secondary focus addresses surgical devices and other scopes.

About us: The Effective Health Care Program is committed to providing the best available evidence on the outcomes, benefits and harms, and appropriateness of drugs, devices, and health care services and by helping health care professionals, patients, policymakers, and health care systems make informed health care decisions.  The program partners with research centers, academic institutions, health professional societies, consumer organizations, and other stakeholders to conduct research, evidence synthesis, evidence translation, dissemination, and implementation of research findings.
