HHS OIG Issues Report on Senior Medicare Patrols
Per the notice below, the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) of the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has issued a report on the results of the Senior Medicare Patrol program.
2024 Performance Data for the Senior Medicare Patrol Projects

In 2024, 54 Senior Medicare Patrol projects received grants from the Administration for Community Living to engage retired professionals, older adults, and community members in efforts to prevent, detect, and report Medicare fraud. The projects included 5,643 active team members who conducted 22,752 outreach and education events and had 283,724 individual interactions with or on behalf of Medicare beneficiaries. These efforts resulted in $35,115,211 in expected Medicare recoveries, $99,037 in cost avoidance for Medicare, Medicaid, and others, and $6,071 in savings for beneficiaries.
