NPHL Issues Four New Public Health Resources

Jul 24, 2025

The Network for Public Health Law (NPHL) has issued four new public health resources that can be read and accessed below.

Types of Legal and Policy Tools to Protect Community Health at the Local Level

Knowledge of legal and policy tools that may be used to advance public health at the local level can increase the effectiveness of public health practitioners and community advocates in bringing about lasting systems change.  This fact sheet describes a number of legal and policy tools commonly used at the local level, together with one or more examples of how they might be used to advance public health and health equity.

Advancing the Social Determinants of Health—The Private Sector Community Benefits Movement

This Webinar, held on May 15, discussed the growing community benefits movement, how it connects to public health, and how it has already helped to advance the social determinants of health.  View the Webinar recording here.

Act for Public Health Briefing: The Courts

In this fifth in a series of Briefings from Act for Public Health, of which the Network is a partner, Wendy E. Parmet, professor of law at Northeastern University School of Law and faculty director of the Center for Health Policy and Law, and Thomas Pryor, lead senior staff attorney at the Public Health Law Center at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, discussed several recent Supreme Court cases that have important ramifications for public health, as well as ongoing litigation relating to executive branch actions.  They also suggest how listeners can keep abreast of public health litigation and how they can respond to legal threats to public health.  You can view the recording here and learn more about the Act for Public Health Briefings here.

We're Listening: Join the Network's Focus Groups and Help Shape Support for Public Health in Turbulent Times

Public health is facing complex challenges, and the Network is rethinking how we can best support the field.  We’re hosting focus groups and interviews to hear directly from you, our partners in public health.  Join us (virtually or in person) to share your perspective and receive a $25 gift card for your time.  Spots are limited.  Learn more.
