Alert: Scammers Posing as NYSED Target Dentists
There have been reports of a scam targeting dentists across New York State. Scammers are impersonating representatives from the New York State Education Department, claiming to be investigating “narcotics activity” or “money laundering” linked to a dentist’s DEA number. During these fraudulent calls, they may request bank account information, Social Security numbers, or other personal details, claiming the information is needed to verify records.
Please be advised:
The New York State Education Department will never call to request financial or personal information related to your professional license or DEA number.
If you receive such a call, do not share any information and hang up immediately.
