The Ninth District Dental Society was formed in 1909 and renamed to the Ninth District Dental Association in 2002. We have a membership of over 1200 dentists in 5 counties: Westchester, Rockland, Dutchess, Orange and Putnam.

In its quest to serve both the public and the profession, the Ninth District embodies the highest ideals.

The mission of the 9th District Dental Association is to serve and support its members and the public by improving the oral health of our community through Advocacy, Continuing Education and Camaraderie.

Administrator Engels Connects with Grantees Across the Country

Throughout July, HRSA Administrator Tom Engels traveled across the country to meet with health care providers, state leaders, and community partners, seeing first-hand how HRSA-funded programs are expanding access to care, strengthening the health workforce, and improving health outcomes.  From Camp Hebrew Academy for Special Children's continuity of care model that provides care to young adults with intellectual, physical, and developmental disabilities at home and at camp, to Refuah Health's comprehensive one-stop model that offers primary care, dental care, and other health care services, to Gerald L. Ignace Indian Health Center's commitment to advancing quality care for urban Indian communities, Administrator Engels saw firsthand how health centers provide accessible, community-based, patient-centered care tailored to the unique needs of the communities they serve.  He also highlighted the critical role health centers play in improving health outcomes during keynote addresses at the Florida Association of Community Health Centers Annual Conference, and recognized the importance of telehealth to expand access to care during HRSA’s Telehealth Grantee Meeting.
In Washington, D.C., Administrator Engels visited MedStar Washington Hospital Center to learn how HRSA's Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program supports coordinated, patient-centered HIV care through an integrated model of care.  He also joined state leaders and rural health partners to recognize State Flex Programs whose innovative technical assistance is helping strengthen Critical Access Hospitals and rural health systems across the country.

As HHS and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs advance research and collaboration on innovative mental health treatments for veterans, HRSA is seeking stakeholder input to ensure the health workforce is prepared to safely and effectively deliver potential future FDA-approved therapies in community settings.  Comments are due by August 13, 2026.

HRSA Seeking Nominations for the Tribal Advisory Council

HRSA is accepting nominations from the Great Plains, Nashville, Oklahoma, and Phoenix areas to serve on the Tribal Advisory Council (TAC).  The nomination deadline is September 30, 2026.  The TAC consists of one delegate and one alternate delegate from each of the 12 Indian Health Service geographic areas.  The area delegate and alternate delegate must both be elected Tribal officials who are qualified to represent the views of federally recognized Tribes in the area from which they are being nominated.  E-mail TribalAffairs@hrsa.gov for more information or visit the HRSA TAC website, which includes a template nomination letter.  Please also share HRSA’s TAC Call for Nominations flyer with your Tribal leaders today!

HRSA In Focus

On July 9, HRSA announced the re-establishment of the National Advisory Committee on Rural Health and Human Services (NACRHHS).  Under the leadership of HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and HRSA Administrator Tom Engels, this federal advisory committee will provide recommendations to the Secretary on improving health care and human services in rural communities across the nation.
Earlier this month, HRSA announced that it will provide State Primary Care Offices’ additional time to review and update certain Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) designations identified through the agency’s 2025 National Shortage Designation Update.
Last month, HRSA announced nearly $140 million in new funding available to improve health in rural communities, underscoring the agency's commitment to improving health care access and outcomes.  These investments will help state and local organizations:
  • Expand, prevention, treatment, and recovery services for substance use disorder
  • Grow rural residency programs to strengthen the health workforce
  • Build stronger rural health care networks
  • Advance telehealth innovation to improve access to quality care

Register to attend the final session of the 2026 Healthy Grants Workshop series on August 12, 2026 from 1-4pm ET.  The session will cover prior approvals, carryover requests, and indirect costs.  The workshop will be offered in two tracks:

  • The New Recipients/Refresher Track supports the learning and application of concepts for individuals and organizations new to managing HRSA grant awards.
  • The Advanced Track will benefit individuals and organizations with significant experience managing HRSA grant awards.

New NSCH Data Briefs Examine Youth Sports Participation and ADHD Among U.S. Children

HRSA published two new data briefs from the National Survey of Children's Health (NSCH).

Together, these briefs provide timely national data to inform programs, policy, and research focused on improving the health and well-being of children and families.

Under President Trump and Secretary Kennedy’s leadership, HRSA has released the Poverty Assessment and Investment Dashboard, a new tool that offers an interactive look at how HRSA investments are reaching communities across America that experience persistent poverty.  Whether you're a researcher, policymaker, journalist, advocate, or community member, you can explore how HRSA investments are distributed by program area, geography, and fiscal year.

National Sample Survey of Registered Nurses

The National Sample Survey of Registered Nurses (NSSRN) is the primary source of data on the U.S. nursing workforce.  Selected nurses who receive a survey invitation from the U.S. Census Bureau are encouraged to complete the survey online or by mail before it closes later this summer.  Survey responses provide critical data that informs workforce policies, planning, and investments to support the nation's nursing workforce.

Health Workforce Explorer New Updates

The Health Workforce Explorer is an interactive dashboard that provides the latest data on more than 40 health workforce occupations across the United States.  The dashboard now includes more than 200,000 data points, expanded health workforce and graduate program data, new state-level physician specialty information, and refreshed visualizations that make it easier to explore and compare workforce trends.
