The Ninth District Dental Society was formed in 1909 and renamed to the Ninth District Dental Association in 2002. We have a membership of over 1200 dentists in 5 counties: Westchester, Rockland, Dutchess, Orange and Putnam.

In its quest to serve both the public and the profession, the Ninth District embodies the highest ideals.

The mission of the 9th District Dental Association is to serve and support its members and the public by improving the oral health of our community through Advocacy, Continuing Education and Camaraderie.

Happy Labor Day!

Did you know that the first Labor Day celebration in the United States took place in 1882 as a show of solidarity for widespread pushes for labor reform?  Today, it serves as an annual reminder of all we have accomplished on behalf of the talented workers here in New York State.  Commissioner Reardon recorded a Labor Day message this year, celebrating the history behind the holiday and the workers across New York State who help our communities thrive.

The Business Advocacy Office Launches a New Webinar Series

Last month, the New York State Department of Labor's Business Advocacy Office (BAO) produced its first Business Services Webinar.  The webinar is the first in a series about the many services and initiatives available to businesses through the Department of Labor.  During the webinar, attendees received an overview of the BAO and how they assist the business community.  That topic was followed by a presentation focused on understanding tax credits and funding opportunities available through the Department.  A full recording of the session can be found on the BAO’s YouTube playlist.

25th Anniversary of 9/11

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2001.  As we pay tribute to those who lost their lives because of the attacks, we want to remind elected officials and their staff of the 9/11 Assistance programs that may be available to your constituents.  The World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program provides no-cost medical monitoring and treatment for eligible responders and survivors, including residents, area workers, and students with health conditions related to their exposure on 9/11 and through July 2002.  The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) provides financial compensation for physical illnesses or deaths related to 9/11 for both responders and survivors, including residents, area workers, and students.  Applicants do not have to currently be sick to register.  For more information, please visit the 9/11 Assistance Programs webpage.

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!

Hispanic Heritage Month is an annual celebration from September 15 to October 15 highlighting the significant contributions of Hispanic and Latino history and culture.  The observance began as a week-long celebration in 1968 under President Lyndon Johnson.  Under President Ronald Reagan, it was expanded to a 30-day long celebration.  Each year, we recognize Hispanic history and culture of the United States, including the important influences the community has had on art, cuisine, advocacy, and, especially, the labor movement.
