HHS OCR Releases Updated HIPAA Security Risk Assessment Tool
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) are pleased to announce the release of version 3.7 of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Security Risk Assessment (SRA) Tool. To help you make the most of these updates, ONC and OCR are hosting live webinars on September 15 at noon ET or September 16 at 3:00pm ET. Experts will demonstrate new features, walk through reports, and answer your questions. Version 3.7 includes revised content and other important updates, such as:
- Assessment coverage and scope questions and education
- Remote access and telework questions and education
- System activity logging revised language and education
- Expanded asset examples to include newer technology
- Updated software libraries for bug and vulnerability fixes
- Report revisions to capture additional details and comments
