Live Webinar:  “Demystifying Dental Benefits” Tuesday, September 29, 2026 – 7-9 pm (Objective 12 Practice Management / 2 CE)

Register

 Instructor:           Amrita Patel, D.D.S.

Synopsis:  Dental insurance touches every single patient conversation and every line of your P&L, yet most dentists, regardless of how long they've been in practice, were never actually taught how the system works. This course pulls back the curtain on dental benefits: how plans are structured, how codes get created and valued, where fee schedules come from, and where the gaps between "covered" and "paid" quietly erode practice revenue and patient trust.

Drawing on years of first-hand experience navigating dental benefits from both the clinical and business sides, this session goes beyond the front-desk basics. New dentists will walk away finally understanding a system that clinical training never covered. Seasoned owners and multi-practice leaders will leave with sharper language for fee negotiations, a clearer read on where their practice is leaving money on the table, and concrete strategies for protecting fee integrity as insurance pressures intensify. Whether you're building your first associate contract or running a multi-site group, this is the insurance education dental school skipped: built for every stage of the career, not just the start of it.

"Diagnosis and Treatment Planning: Endodontic Inflammation, Infection, and Fractures"
"Root Resorption: Types, Diagnosis, and Management"
"Iatrogenic Incidents: Perforation, Instrument Separation, and Sodium Hypochlorite Accident"

Instructor:  Matthew Malek,  D.D.S.
A Board Certified Endodontist and the Director of the post graduate program in endodontics at New York University.  Dr. Malek is involved with several research projects which focus on pain and resorption of the root, in which he has the most interest. He lectures frequently to local, national, and international communities on the topic of resorption.  He is also the author/co-author of several peer-review articles and chapters in prominent endodontic journals and text books.

Dr. Matthew Malek has no financial relationships relevant to this presentation to disclose.

Synopsis:   The first part of this program focuses on diagnosis and treatment planning.  This lecture addresses the practical and clinical challenges associated with endodontic diagnosis and emphasizes how an accurate diagnosis can guide appropriate treatment planning and lead to successful clinical outcomes.

The second part focuses on resorption.  Root resorption is more common than often anticipated, and its diagnosis represents one of the major challenges, as it can sometimes be difficult to distinguish from other lesions, such as caries.  This presentation reviews the different types of root resorption and provides practical clinical tools for their diagnosis and management.  It also presents clinical cases with long-term follow-up and discusses both healing and failure.  In addition, new technologies and advanced scientific methodologies used in the diagnosis and treatment of resorptive cases are introduced.

The third and final part of the program addresses iatrogenic incidents.  Such incidents are common among practitioners at all levels.  This presentation discusses common errors -- including perforations, instrument separation, air emphysema, and sodium hypochlorite accidents -- supported by clinical case examples.  Methods of prevention and outcomes are also explored from both clinical and scientific perspectives.
