Synopsis: Some of the most challenging patients dental professionals treat are those with chronic facial pain and Temporomandibular disorders. Facial pain can arise from multiple sources and present as a wide variety of symptoms. Creating systematic ways to examine and evaluate facial-pain patients is critical. Successful treatment hinges on arriving at the correct diagnosis. In this course, some of the most common diagnoses and treatments will be reviewed. Surgical and non-surgical treatments will be discussed, but emphasis will be placed on treating pain in a minimally invasive and non-surgical manner. The use of Botox will be discussed, including case selection, protocols and potential pitfalls.
